My info
I am a Dominican priest of the Province of St. Joseph in the USA. I was raised in Phoenix, AZ and Brophy College Preparatory. I graduated from the University of Arizona and then went to law school at the University of Chicago. Upon graduation, I worked for in the Corporate and Securities practice of Sidley & Austin, a large Chicago law firm. Upon reflection and discernment, I left the practice of law to enter religious life. I entered the novitiate for the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in 2002, where I took the religious name "Pius", after Pope St. Pius V, one of the four Popes who were first Dominicans. I received my License in Sacred Theology from our Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. I was ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 2008 and served at the parish of St. Thomas Aquinas in Zanesville, OH. In 2010, I was appointed by President Barack Obama to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. In 2019, I was elected vice-chair of the Board.
I currently serve as Chairman of Pastoral Studies and Assistant Professor at St. Patrick Seminary and University in Menlo Park, CA. I teach classes on Canon Law, Sacraments, and Homiletics.
